Statement of Purpose
Our registrants will explore many challenging problems that we see in our offices on a daily basis. For some participants, these challenges are difficult to manage, while others are curious in their etiology and nature.  Nearly a decade into the 21st century, it will become even more important that we be able to manage these problems effectively.  Our speaker has years of clinical and teaching experience and will bring new light and information to some difficult management problems, as well as disease prevention and health promotion. He will include information on the challenges and some guidelines in the area of international travel medicine.

The state of the art of patient care in the twenty-first century will be management - the management of patients’ wellness and illness, and communication – the ability to talk and listen to patients. What do patients want and expect?  How do we as physicians meet those expectations?  How can physicians work smarter, not harder?  These presentations will provide the latest on screening evaluations and recommendations for health maintenance, as well as discuss specific suggestions on dealing with high-risk patients (as well as tips on using technology to make our professional life more efficient). The area of depression can be especially problematic and will be also explored.

Our registrants will learn by didactic lectures augmented by audio-visual aids and written monographs, as well as by interactive discussions with our speaker.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this program, our registrants should be able to:

• Classify patients with asthma into diagnostic categories and know appropriate management strategies based on classification
• Understand guidelines for appropriate and effective screening for cancers, such as breast, cervical, colorectal and prostate cancer
• Discuss the emerging information regarding the clinical diagnosis and treatment of depression and anxiety
• Understand current diagnostic and management recommendations for osteoporosis
• Understand the characteristics of successful teams and tools to build teamwork
• Discuss important aspects to review with patients prior to international travel, including general risk evaluation, immunizations needed, malarial prophylaxis, and other issues

Target Audience
Our registrants represent a broad range of medical specialties.  The CME learning objectives and topics have been selected to provide the most pertinent information to family physicians, general practitioners, general internists, emergency medicine, obstetricians/gynecologists, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.

Accreditation
ACCME: Antidote Education Company is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.  Antidote designates this educational activity for a maximum of 10 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

AAFP: This program has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 10 Prescribed credits by the American Academy of Family Physicians.

AOA: This program has been accredited by the American Osteopathic Association for 10 credit hours of AOA Category 2-A credit.

Program Evaluation
Each registrant will be asked to complete an evaluation form on the speaker and for each topic that assesses what the registrant will do differently in the practice of medicine as a result of this CME activity, and whether or not the activity met the stated learning objectives. The results of these evaluations are utilized in speaker recruitment and in the planning of future seminars.

Registration Fee
The registration fee for this program is $375 US per registrant.  This includes 10 hours of CME credit, all course materials and your certificate of attendance.
